I want you to travel with me to rural western Ethiopia. I want to tell you the story of the people that live there.
We will walk with them. We will see the world through their eyes. What is life like? What joys and challenges do they experience? What does the future hold for their children? Who will they become?
Canadian Food for the Hungry (CFH) has been supporting Food for the Hungry – Ethiopia (FH-E) in their development activities in Sasiga since 2004 (Sasiga is the name of the wereda, or municipality, that FH-E is working in. Belo is a smaller area within Sasiga consisting of several villages). The first phase of this project was completed at the end of 2007. I lived in Sasiga and worked with the staff there for two years. The development activities foster an improved quality of life and an enlarged horizon for the future. Water wells have been dug and are supplying clean water, more children are attending school, women run their households with more concern for their family’s health, farmers have been trained to be more efficient and effective, local leaders have had their leadership capacity and vision enlarged, and churches are reaching out in practical ways to those that have the greatest need.
The second phase of the work in Sasiga began in January 2008. A new component has been added to the existing work – the Child Development Program (CDP). This component works together with the local government and community leaders to impact the lives of the poorest children and orphans. It is a sponsorship program, whereby the funds for the child component come from individuals and groups in Canada. It is with these children that we will walk.
Canadian Food for the Hungry has partners that fund the work in Sasiga. This blog is also a portal for you to become more acquainted with those that you are impacting.
I will also post news updates concerning Ethiopia and Sasiga and prayer requests, whereby you can become involved on behalf of the children of Sasiga. Please feel free to respond to anything you encounter at this site.

Rob!! Hi! Rosemary just sent me this blog address. I LOVE it! I think you’ve done a great job. Great to see pics of the guys that we met while we were there, too!

Hey Brother,
I really appreciate your efforts in creating this blog. The more we can learn about the work you and Kara are doing, the better we can tell our kids about it and the more specifically we can pray for you. I know that I am not the greatest at keeping up regular communication.
I will try to get those measurements to you tonight. Keep praying for Anwyn’s healing…the doctor’s say everything is going well. She continues to sleep well and is definitely growing fast.
God bless you and Kara! Give her a great big hug from us. We continue to be excited for your big day.
Love you both

Rob, I am so thankful you have this blog now, and that through it I can SEE the work you are doing. It is one thing to know it is going on, but you know me – I have to SEE. Now I have names and faces to add to the prayers, and can see what needs to be brought before the Lord.
)
I will of course need a picture of you with Kara to replace my prayer reminder picture of you
It is hanging on my wall here in Germany.
God bless you both!!!
